Obermeyer comes to the Fire FC with more than 12 years of coaching and administrative experience at the college and youth club levels in the state of Minnesota. He recently completed a one-year stint as MLS Academy youth coach with the Minnesota United FC (2019-20), which came after an eight-year run as a head and assistant coach at several age divisions with the Minnesota Thunder Academy (2011-19).
Obermeyer, also served as a coach in Minnesota’s ODP program (2011-17), and was a technical trainer and age group coach with the Eden Prairie Soccer Club (2010-14). At the collegiate level, he was a volunteer assistant men’s soccer coach (2010-11) and assistant women’s coach and reserve team head coach (2008-11) at his alma mater, Gustavus Adolphus (MN) College. 

Obermeyer double-majored in History and Political Science at Gustavus Adolphus, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in 2008. He is also a licensed U.S. Soccer Federation Grassroots instructor, and has USSF Federation A Youth and USYS Youth National coaching licenses. He is married to UT Head Women’s Soccer Coach Molly Rouse.
